2024/25 LAD
Youth Ballet Company
Auditions Closed for 2024/25 Season
Auditions for the 2024/25 audition season will be during the Ballet Summer Sessions. All dancers 8-18 yrs. who are interested should attend a Ballet Variations Workshop to be evaluated for team placement.
Summer Sessions are an opportunity for dancers to enhance their technique in a small class setting by focusing on more advanced skills and learning ballet repertoire similar to what we will compete. This gives the dancers a chance to see if they enjoy the type of movement that we compete and allows the instructor to determine if your dancer is at the skill level necessary to compete these dances.
Benefits of Competing Ballet:
- Ballet dances require a large amount of technique, heavy movement. Weekly rehearsals that work to improve and expand upon these techniques will lead to an overall increase of the dancer’s skill levels in all other aspects of dance.
- Dancers receive more individualized attention while working on the technique during their rehearsal and the teacher is able to help guide them to their goals with a more individualized approach due to the limited number of dancers in each rehearsal.
- Competing these dances allows the dancers to perform a style that they usually only get to perform once a year (at recital). This additional opportunity allows those dancers to explore the complexities of ballet in a new setting and further enjoy the style.
Commitment
Each dance will be a similar time commitment to other comp dances at LAD
- (1) 30 min rehearsal every week for each dance that they are participating in for Ballet Team
- (1) 90 min Ballet Technique Class on
Saturday mornings
- Compete at one ballet specific competition Dates: Universal Ballet Competition April 25-27th (Houston)
- Dancers competing on pointe must be enrolled in the "Pointe" Class.
Due to normal competition/convention policies, we can not guarantee that all/any of these dances will be able to register at normal competition/convention due to category performing limits. To guarantee we are able to compete at least once, we will be attending a ballet specific competition.
Ballet competitions are vastly different from normal competitions/conventions and are a highly recommended addition for dancers who really enjoy ballet and a smaller, more mentorship based convention.
We make an effort to schedule around pre-scheduled commitments that the dancers may have for both school and main LAD Company. Saturday morning classes and rehearsals may be moved to the afternoon or made-up over holidays to accommodate schedules at the discretion of the coach. For specific questions, please email Ms. Sara.
If your dancer is interested in joining the Ballet Competition Team, please talk with Ms. Sara and register your dancer for a Ballet Variations Workshop to audition.
